Flooding in Lakewood, New Jersey

Streets in the city of Lakewood, New Jersey were flooded on Monday as torrential rains poured down from Washington DC all the way north to the tri-state area, including in New York and New Jersey.

Flash flood warnings were issued by the U.S. National Weather Service for numerous areas in New Jersey and in New York.

“Heavy rain expected to occur over a short period of time. Rapidly rising flood waters may quickly inundate roadways and areas with poor drainage. Streams and creeks could [crest] their banks, flooding nearby properties.”

The “Chaverim” Jewish assistance organization reported many people were trapped in flooded vehicles, and that numerous basements were totally under water.
