Top Trump administration officials met with reporters in Washington first thing Monday morning to talk about the big topic of the day – the re-imposition of sanctions on Iran.
“Today we are re-imposing all sanctions that were previously lifted under the Iran nuclear deal,” said U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. “This includes sanctions on energy, banking, shipping, and shipbuilding.”
Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin discussed the sanctions in more detail. “This morning we will fully impose sanctions on the Iranian regime,” he said. “This is part of a maximum, unprecedented U.S. economic pressure campaign the United States is waging against the world’s largest state-sponsor of terror.”
