A shipment of heavy aerial bombs recently approved by the US government arrived in Israel on Sunday. The vessel, carrying MK-84 munitions, docked at the port of Ashdod, where the cargo was unloaded. The munitions were then loaded onto dozens of trucks from the Amon Transport Unit and the IDF’s Technology and Logistics Division before being transported to air force bases.

Defense Minister Israel Katz welcomed the shipment, calling it “a significant asset for the Air Force and the IDF, and further proof of the strong bond between Israel and the United States.”

“In our last conversation, Secretary of Defense Hegseth reaffirmed the US commitment to supplying Israel with all the necessary tools to ensure its security,” Katz added.

With President Trump’s arrival in the White House, the restrictions on heavy bomb shipments to Israel, imposed by his predecessor Joe Biden, were lifted. Additionally, about two weeks ago, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing US officials familiar with the matter, that a new arms deal for Israel was under negotiation.

According to the report, the proposed sale includes 4,700 bombs, each weighing 450 kilograms, valued at over $700 million, and armored bulldozers worth more than $300 million.

To date, Israel has received over 760,000 tons of military equipment through 678 flights and 129 barges, marking the largest air and sea shipment in the country’s history.
