Veteran TV and radio talk show host Larry King is recovering in a hospital after undergoing a heart procedure last Thursday, according to the Ora TV network.
“His doctor successfully performed the angioplasty and inserted stents to reopen the previous bypass from 1987,” the network said in a statement. “He has been recuperating in the hospital and is scheduled to be released soon. His doctors expect him to make a full recovery.”
The 85-year-old Jewish host of Larry King Now had been scheduled to undergo angioplasty on Thursday but went to the hospital early when he began experiencing angina.
King survived a heart attack in 1987 and subsequently underwent quintuple bypass surgery. The experience prompted him to quit smoking and lose weight. He has also previously battled prostate cancer and lung cancer, and to this day lives with Type II diabetes.
