Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had high praise for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley on Monday night after she vetoed a UN Security Council resolution that would have attempted to require President Donald Trump to rescind his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, advanced by Egypt.
Thank you, Ambassador Haley. On Hanukkah, you spoke like a Maccabi. You lit a candle of truth. You dispel the darkness. One defeated the many. Truth defeated lies. Thank you, President Trump. Thank you, pic.twitter.com/gm84B2trwK

Similarly, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, praised Haley, noting that just a year ago in the same chamber, “14 countries voted for a shameful resolution. The US abstained – the resolution passed. Today, 14 countries voted for another shameful resolution. This time the US vetoed.
“Thank you Amb @nikkihaley for your courageous stance,” Danon tweeted.
Ambassador Nikki Haley: Given the chance to vote again on Resolution 2234, I can say with complete confidence that the United States would vote no; we would exercise our veto power.— Department of State (@StateDept)
