Reuters quotes Hamam as saying, “When we had heard that there was a film that was insulting to the prophet, we, as members of the public, and not as militia brigades, we came to the consulate here to protest and hold a small demonstration.”

New Obama Brochure Speaks Of ‘Economic Patriotism’

Did President Obama’s campaign just release 3.5 million copies of a pamphlet hinting at second term plans for the government takeover of private industry?

Last week, the Obama campaign released a 20-page, picture- and graph-filled brochure purporting to outline its second-term agenda. The booklet was entitled, “The New Economic Patriotism: A Plan for Jobs & Middle-Class Security.”

The book was reportedly mailed to 3.5 million households in swing states. Its themes were also emphasized in ads and speeches this week.

In Europe, “economic patriotism” routinely refers to the government takeover of private industries. A June 26, 2006 Deutsche Bank study, for example, emphasized the negative effects of emerging “economic patriotism,” or government takeovers, on the development of the EU’s single market.
