There are three primary holidays on the Jewish calendar. I mean, there are more than three, but there are three that are mentioned explicitly in the Torah. Those are Sukkot, Pesach, and Shavuot.

Two of the three have a strange concept called Chol HaMoed, which are days that aren’t holidays but they are also not regular days. They are somewhere in the middle.

On these strange days, people have different customs. Some people don’t write, for example, while others do. The one thing that all Jews have in common is that on those days, there is a lot of quality family time.

Millions of Jewish families go away on trips on Chol HaMoed, something that reiterates how the family unit is so central to the Jewish theology.

People go to parks, make BBQs, tour the land of Israel, and much more.

Chol HaMoed trips are a great opportunity to stop for a second, maybe even disconnect from our fast paced world and focus on what’s really important and that is family.
