Chabad Chayil of Highland Lakes Jewish Center held some very special activities to usher in the Jewish new year. Chabad Chayil’s Shofar Factory and Honey Bee workshop are highly anticipated programs in the Highland Lakes/North Miami Beach area.
Rabbi Moishe Kievman demonstrated how the shofar is blown and explained that the piercing sound helps to generate the spirit of the holiday. Rabbi Kievman discussed the shofar’s central symbolism in Rosh Hashanah and its sequence of 100 blasts during the two days of Rosh Hashanah. Participants in the program had the opportunity to make their own shofar.
The Honey Bee workshop delighted the children and all others who attended the event. They learned about the secret life of bees and how honey reminds Jews throughout the world of the anticipation of a sweet new year.
The Shofar Factory and Honey Bee Workshop are two of many Chabad Chayil holiday programs that give Jews the opportunity to learn the significance of Jewish rituals in order to enhance the holidays with greater understanding and devotion.
