An SRO crowd recently celebrated the 22nd Anniversary Breakfast of Congregation Bais Naftoli, honoring Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell and community leader and philanthropist Ira Frankel.
Among the breakfast’s participants was Los Angeles rabbinic leaders Chaim Fasman, Yochanan Henig, Avrohom Chaim Halberstam, Joel Burstyn, Reuben Huttler, Shalom Rubanowitz, Pinchas Gruman, Naftoli Estulin, Alan Kalinsky and Shlomo Klein.
Los Angeles County Commissioner Andrew Friedman, Bais Naftoli’s president, welcomed the honorees, McDonnell and Frankel. Also at the breakfast were Rep. Ed Royce; City Councilman Paul Koretz; City Attorney Mike Feuer; L.A. County Supervisor Mike Antonovich; L.A. Superior Court Judge Andrew Cooper; City Controller Ron Galperin; and LAPD Captain Eric Davis.
Former L.A. County sheriff Lee Baca attended, along with LAPD Commander Stuart Maislin; county supervisor candidate Bobby Shriver; county assessor candidate Jeffrey Prang; the L.A. district attorney’s chief investigator, Dominick Rivetti; Hungarian Consul General Szilard Teleki; German Deputy Consul General Stefan Biedermann; and representatives from the U.S. attorney’s office, the DEA and the FBI.
