Young women can be given the option of learning about budgeting, safe driving, responsible money spending, or even how to go about filing their own taxes — in place of astronomy and physics, molecular biology, calculus, chemistry, Napoleon, the French Revolution and writings of Shakespeare or Charles Dickens.
Works of mussar such as Mesilas Yesharim, so that they can work on their middos and become better people, would also be a good choice and should take precedence over subjects that our girls can generally do without.
How many of approximately 4,000 high school hours (not counting those spent doing schoolwork at home) are utilized for learning how to deal with real life?
Whether our daughters do or don’t learn running a household from their moms, schools today charge far too high a fee for babysitting our kids, who upon graduating still lack a basic knowledge of life that awaits them in the complicated world of ours. Another Realist
