I am not sure why the bands feel they must play music so loudly. In terms of the baalei simcha, sometimes they become so involved in greeting their guests and making sure things are running smoothly, they forget to speak with the band about the volume of the music.

I know that many people today take earplugs to simchas with them. While that shouldn’t be necessary, until things change, it’s a good way to protect your hearing.
