            Model reading for pleasure. The more you read, the better you read! If, as parents and teachers, we can show our children that we enjoy reading (by simply making time within our busy schedules to sit down and read a book), we will teach our children the value of reading.

I’ve written about literacy often, but when I read what Dr. John King had written about “literacy and justice for all,” it made me think about the ways in which literacy truly is the great equalizer. If we teach children how to read and encourage lifelong learning, we open up for them worlds of possibilities.
