Even though different groups of people have been prejudicial toward Jews throughout history, there isn’t a ton of pressure to boycott the products from these countries. Because if we really counted up each and every place that displayed antisemitism, opting to give up those things forever, where would the list truly stop?
Sure, people will say not to drive a German car, decide to skip movies with Mel Gibson, or never listen to a Kanye song, but I’ve never heard of anyone protesting driving a Ford Mustang or choosing to avoid Disney World.
Do you think throughout Jewish history Jews have had to grapple with this dilemma of what things they had to give up?
Were people at one point saying to their grandchildren, “I can’t believe it! You’re wearing a shirt made of Egyptian cotton on Pesach?” “You have the gall to eat a Greek yogurt on Chanukah?” “You’re using Roman Numerals on Tisha B’Av? Don’t you understand what those people did to us?”
