I live in Los Angeles, where humidity is not a big deal. However, recently, I was in Washington, D.C. for a work trip; it was 95 degrees and humid. As I walked around town, exploring the sights, I was sweating so much that my sheitel started sweating as well. I thought, “How do Jewish women on the east coast deal with this the entire season?”

To all you ladies rocking the sheitels year-round, I say: kol hakavod to you. You not only make your home warm and welcoming, provide meals for your family, give back to your community, strengthen your relationship with Hashem, have beautiful children, have an awesome career, etc. etc. etc., you do it all while covering your hair! And in the summer, sweating through your sheitels! (Perhaps the name of my new one-woman show?!)

Jewish women, you never cease to amaze me. You’re superheroes… in summer, and beyond.
