The plus size industry has come a long way in the last decade, but there is still so much room for improvement, especially in regards to in-store options (much more is available online). I remember being a curvy teen and my only option for larger clothes were matronly and frumpy. It was a terrible feeling being 17 years old and having to dress like I was 70 because my options were so dismal.
Thankfully, the plus size retail world has been expanding because we ALL deserve to wear clothes that are reflective of who we are while making us feel confident and beautiful. Everyone deserves to wear nice clothes no matter their size, so I’m really excited to be sharing some of my favorite fashion forward plus size retailers with you today!
One of my favorite retailers is Eloquii and they go up to a size 28. You’ll always find the latest trends, plus more classic options as well. They’ve had some great modest skirts in the past, but my favorite pieces always seem to be their dresses. Every time I include their dresses on my blog, I notice that they are bought more often than anything else I feature. They have beautiful fit and flare dresses in great colors and prints – no, you do not need to wear black or blend into the background because you have curves.
Another all time favorite is ASOS Curve. With ASOS you’ll find a lot more unique styles that you might not find anywhere else and they go up to a size 28 as well. Their price point is usually decent and while their quality is hit or miss, they offer free shipping and returns and have great customer service. I love ASOS for beautiful, feminine, and whimsical pieces.
A brand new plus size option is Loft! Just a few months ago, Loft expanded their sizing to include plus size options which is such an exciting move. Loft is known for their sales so you’ll likely find budget friendly options on their site. Their sizing is available in 16-26.
If you’ve always wanted high end and designer pieces but it wasn’t accessible in your size, 11 Honoré is a brand new luxury fashion site that sells brands like Prabal Gurung, Christian Siriano, Mara Hoffman, Marchesa and more in sizes 10-20, but there are a few pieces that go up to a size 26. I hope they continue expanding their size range because this is so exciting and something rarely seen offered.
ModCloth is another great brand that has been selling really cute plus size pieces for the last few years. They have quirky and fun pieces and many modest options as well. They have a lot of options available from a size xs-4xl which you often don’t see.
Honorable mentions:
Forever 21 Plus (Up to 3x)
Kiyonna (up to 32)
Nordstrom (sizes available depend on particular brand)
Old Navy (up to size 30)
Premme (up to 28/30)
Rachel Roy (up to size 24)
Tadashi Shoji (up to size 24)
Target, particularly The Who, What, Wear brand (up to size 4x)
We all come in different shapes and sizes and don’t need to spend our lives trying to shrink ourselves to society’s narrow standards of beauty. I hope this is a helpful source for plus size readers!
