Ever-smiling Rav Shalom Arush is a beloved figure in Israel and beyond. A powerhouse for chesed and decent living, his Breslav-based Shlom Bonaich school for underprivileged children in Jerusalem has produced a series of five children’s booklets in Hebrew, English and soon-to-be Yiddish.

The stories deal with everyday happenings, especially awkward situations, in the lives of children. Little ones will relates to the consequences of a child leaving home without telling the folks, feeling the fear of telling the truth though it might be scary or painful, learning how to be a proper and congenial host who makes guests feel comfortable, finding out how to be safe during road travel, and how to deal with physical features you’d rather not have (big ears and birthmarks included).

Colorful, simply written and simply illustrated, the booklets are entitled “The Duberstein Family and the Chesed Surprise,” “Look Both Ways Before You Cross the Street,” “The Wonderful Hasidic Trio,” “Natan’s Ears and The Golden Path,” and “White Kipa.”
