Dimitris’s contact information is [email protected]. I recommend this hotel for its proactive attitude toward frum Jews and its outstanding baths, spa, and thermal waters.
The Central Region has its attractions, and it includes the country’s capital, but except for the Jewish infrastructure noted above the city is not much different from most Latin American and South American cities.
The third region, the Gold Coast, is known as the Guanacaste or Papagayo area, and it lies on the most westerly coast of the country, fronting the Pacific Ocean. There are major international five-star hotels and private villas for hundreds of miles running north to south on this coast.
The Westin Hotel, located in Playa Conchal, is one of the finest of these hotels (if not the finest) and it makes every effort to accommodate frum travelers. Its general manager, Hernan Binaghi (506-2654-3303; [email protected]) was raised in Argentina and is familiar with the needs of observant Jews. He says the hotel is expanding its accommodations for frum travelers, including food and Shabbos arrangements. The chefs have been taught about the complexity of kosher food and know enough about double wrapping, glass plates and plastic cutlery to work with frum guests (who are advised to explain their needs prior to arrival).
While there is no frum infrastructure in the area for individuals, arrangements for groups of ten or more will be accommodated for minyanim, etc. The hotel’s provides extraordinary service and I highly recommend it.
