On November 13, the streets of the Al Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City were flooded with raw sewage, after a nearby waste water treatment plant had been shut down.
We’re facing a potential epidemic of biblical proportions here. Gaza is not separated from the rest of Israel when it comes to elements of the environment. Their sea—gorged in their raw sewage—is our sea. People and animals constantly move out of Gaza and into our part of the geography. We must fix this, no matter the cost.
An outbreak of cholera would be much more expensive and complicated to fix.
