Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in cooperation with the Golan Regional Council, launched the regional pilot “Golan Buys Golan,” which offers direct sale of Golan produce from farmers to consumers.

The first pilot of its kind will market a regional product basket from the Golan directly to private and institutional consumers in the Golan, without mediation, and will examine the model for establishing a regional food security system in routine and emergency situations, in order to maintain the continuity of the supply of fresh agricultural produce and with the aim of assisting farmers in marketing their produce.

“The long months of war severely affected agricultural activity in the north,” explained the Ministry. “The productive infrastructure of many farmers was destroyed, many were evacuated from their homes, and others were left without workers. In order to strengthen the production capacity of farms in the north and to strengthen farmers so that they can quickly return to full activity, the ministry initiated, in cooperation with the Golan Regional Council, an innovative and advanced pilot for the establishment and consolidation of a joint regional marketing platform for farmers, where fresh agricultural products from the plant and diverse agricultural produce produced in the region will be sold
