Likud Knesset member Yehuda Glick was formally sworn in as a new lawmaker on Wednesday.
Glick recited the Hebrew blessing “shehechiyanu” – which is said on special occasions and new experiences.
He told those gathered that this blessing has many and deep meanings for him since the assassination attempt by an Arab terrorist 18 months ago that nearly took his life. He was shot four times in the chest at point-blank range in November 2014 by a Jerusalem Arab who called him an “enemy of Al Aqsa.”
Glick founded and runs the Temple Mount Heritage Foundation. He says he will do all he can to stop injustice from taking place at the Temple Mount, considered the holiest place in Judaism.
Glick says he’ll continue his work in the Knesset, noting that police officers on the Temple Mount are “commanded to check if a 90-year-old Jew moves his lips or not.” He vowed not to allow the place, “a global center of peace, goodness and light, to continue to be used as a center for incitement to terrorism.”
