More than 175 people attended a complimentary educational program called “Respect and Resilience: Foundations for a Healthy Marriage and Family.” In partnership with Ohel Children’s Home & Family Services and The Shul of Bal Harbour, the event was sponsored by Yehi Ohr, JCS’s new initiative expanding its commitment to the South Florida Orthodox Jewish community.

Renowned rabbi, counselor and bestselling author Mordechai Gary Neuman opened his keynote speech by discussing the differences between a failed and a successful marriage. He talked about the importance of appreciating one’s partner, spending at least hour an hour a day in uninterrupted time together, recognizing that men and women have different needs and that both deserve to be listened to even when spouses disagree. He also spoke of the importance of creating a safe space to just be yourself with your spouse without judgment on the part of either the husband or wife.

The program included a welcome by Fred Stock, JCS president and CEO, and was moderated by Zisa Levin, Yehi Ohr coordinator, who can be contacted at [email protected] or 305-403-6547.
