Whether you’re someone who likes to dive head first into current trends or you prefer to stick to classic pieces instead, you can easily incorporate some of winter’s biggest trends into your wardrobe in a way that feels right to you.
Sequins, Embellishments, and Metallics
Obviously, I’m 100% on board with this one! The runway was filled with silver metallics, sequins and embellished pieces. If you’re not afraid of sparkling, wear a glittery sequin dress or blazer proudly. But if that’s not your thing, try glitter ankle boots or pumps for a fun pop of glam. And if that’s still too much for you, try a sequin clutch bag for your next event or even sparkly tights. It’ll be less of a statement while still adding interest to your outfit.
Winter Florals
You’ve seen it on the runways; florals are not just for spring and summer! Pair a floral dress with black opaque tights and suede or velvet shoes. Look for darker florals that have black or navy in the print so that when you add black or navy tights, the look will be a bit more seamless and cohesive. Unless of course you live in Florida where soft pastel florals will look great year round!
Velvet
Velvet was everywhere last year and I’m personally very happy to see that it is just as on trend for a second year in a row. A jewel-toned velvet dress or pencil skirt in emerald green, blue, or burgundy is a beautiful option. Velvet pumps, flats or boots are also on trend and perfect for winter.
Statement boots
The runway was filled with glittery, bedazzled and bold embroidered patterned boots. In my opinion, this is one of the most wearable trends as you can easily keep the rest of your look simple and classic while letting your boots add that little something extra. You don’t need to spend a lot of money either; ASOS and DSW have some beautiful and affordable options.
Mad For Plaid
Plaid took over the winter runway and was seen in literally every collection. From classic tartan to tiny gingham checks, it was seen on skirts, dresses, coats, tops, and everything you can think of. I am personally partial to a bold, plaid coat, but plaid flat shoes or a blazer would make any outfit look fashionable.
