Secretary of State Mike Pompeo released a statement on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, declaring the relevant elements of the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 have been addressed, and therefore the President need no longer sign the waiver to prevent funding restrictions.

The US Embassy has opened in Jerusalem a chief of mission residence for the Ambassador.

Ambassador David Friedman tweeted:

No more waivers! Having now opened a Chief of Mission Residence in Jerusalem, the Administration has fully achieved the mandate of the Jerusalem Embassy Act. Eternal thanks to @POTUS and @SecPompeo for their courage and leadership.
