Arab League Approves Arms for Syrian Rebels

Syrian rebels have been receiving weapons since the start of the civil war without the approval of the Security Council or the Arab League. But as of today, Sunday, the Arab League is allowing countries bordering Syria to supply the anti-Assad forces with weapons, giving those forces a new legitimacy, and, like it or not, officially supporting the overthrowing of the Syrian regime.

Middle East North Africa Financial Network reported that the resolution was written in a plural form, but the phrase "neighboring countries" means Jordan and Turkey, the only two countries which have been turning a blind eye to smuggling operations while indirectly supported the rebels by hosting their leaders and permitting their activities within their territories.

Syria's other two neighbors, Iraq and Lebanon, are supporting Assad's regime. The fifth neighbor, Israel, is just watching the show…
