French police are reportedly exchanging fire with two terrorists who carried out a brutal massacre in Paris two days ago. The suspects were found north-east of Paris, and a car chase and shootout ensued.

According to French media reports the terrorists are holding a hostage.

The terrorists murdered 12 people, most of them staff at the Charlie Hebdo magazine. The magazine was targeted because it had published controversial cartoons mocking radical Islam. The paper also frequently poked fun at other groups, including Catholics and Jews.

Following the attack tens of thousands gathered in Paris, Toulouse, London, Brussels, and elsewhere in Europe to demonstrate for the right to free speech. Many held placards stating “Je suis Charlie” (“I am Charlie”).
