Christine Quinn Visits The Jewish Press

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Democratic candidate for mayor, recently visited The Jewish Press’s Borough Park offices. There she spoke about her plan to manage future budget gaps, negotiating fairly but realistically with unions on upcoming contracts, her plan to create more jobs and attract more businesses to open in the city, and her position on stop and frisk.

As an example of a job-creating engine, she mentioned the city’s project to introduce two new programs – one from the combined forces of Cornell University and Technion-the Israel Institute of Technology; and one from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University – as a feeder of much-needed tech talent into the city’s startup sector.

She also mentioned her past support for funds for yeshivas and private schools, such as the fact that she sponsored the bill requiring the city to pay for nurses in all schools – public and private. And the bill she supported increasing city funding for special needs students in yeshivas and other private schools.
