Israel Supreme Court Justice Salim Joubran, chariman of the Central Elections Committee, on Thursday, March 5, 2015, visited the situation room in the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem to observe the elections taking place at Israel's diplomatic missions abroad.

While Americans are used to an absentee ballot voting system, in the past any Israelis overseas on Election Day could not vote. This year for the first time diplomats stationed from Wellington, New Zealand and Australia to San Francisco in the western United States are voting.

Ballots were cast in Pretoria, Berlin, New Delhi, and Tbilisi, and a live feed enabled Justice Joubran to speak with heads of counsuls in those cities. Joubran mentioned repeatedly the democratic process in Israeli elections.

He hopes all citizens will vote and that the elections in Israel on March 17, will go as smoothly as those abroad.
