The Miami Marlins’ 11th annual Jewish Heritage Day took place June 1 at Marlins Park. The exciting afternoon included a ceremony with American and Israeli flags, the singing of both countries’ national anthems, kosher food in the stadium and special Marlins kipot.

Rabbi Efrem Goldberg of the Boca Raton Synagogue threw out the first ball. Matt Levin, representing the David Posnack Jewish Community Center, held the American flag and Shelley Benveniste, representing The Jewish Press, held the Israeli flag. Children from Hillel Community Day School in North Miami Beach performed.

Dr. Roni Raab, director of the Jewish Heritage Day Foundation, was pleased with the event and the opportunity for the Jewish community to come together in order to help support the cause of Jewish education.
