Knesset Eases Limits on Visitors’ Foreign Driving Licenses

Visitors to Israel will be able to use their foreign driving licenses for one year from their last time of entry if they have been outside of Israel for at least three months.

Knesset Economics Committee on Monday corrected a contradiction in regulations to remove doubt on the validity of foreign licenses, and the changes will take effect in April, before the Passover holiday begins.

No foreign driving licenses will be valid unless the driver is at least 17 years old.

If a visitor comes and goes without an absence of three months, he or she must apply for an Israeli license and pass a driving test in Israel.
