The Beit Guvrin-Maresha caves located near the city of Kiryat Gat are a network of man-made caves excavated underground over 2,000 years ago. It was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee on 22 June 2014. There are some 480 caves in the Beit Guvrin National Park.
Long before Hamas, there were caves and underground cities in Israel, which the Jews used to fight against the invading Romans. This is a video of Beit Guvrin, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site
