Jack Rosen, president of the American Jewish Congress, said Elliott Abrams “will have little time to settle in,” citing the upcoming deadline to extend the U.N. arms embargo on Iran.
The US administration has again sought a delay in renewed and firmer sanctions against Iran in the hopes of convincing that country, through diplomacy, to pull back from its nuclear weapons program.
From December 2002 to January 2009, Elliott Abrams was an insider. As deputy assistant to the president and later deputy national security adviser – with the Middle East as his focus – Abrams interacted daily with such figures as President George W. Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Israeli Prime Ministers Ariel Sharon and Ehud Olmert.
