Herzog gave Stibbe a special gift: a glass cube inscribed with the Prayer for the Welfare of the State of Israel in the handwriting of its author, the President’s grandfather, Israel’s first chief rabbi, Yitzhak Isaac HaLevi Herzog.

The Palestinian Authority declared that President Herzog “broke into the Ibrahimi Mosque and defiled it,” an act tantamount to a “declaration of war.”

Herzog’s visit to Hebron is the first of many ceremonies he will be attending throughout the country in honor of the Chanukkah celebrations.

Xi noted that Herzog’s late father, Chaim Herzog, Israel’s sixth president, was the first Israeli head of state to visit China upon the establishment of diplomatic ties, and Herzog said he was proud of his father’s role in this historic event.
