The Israeli Embassy there held a ceremony honoring Slovakian Righteous Among the Nations. It awarded six coins and certificates to six families who risked their lives saving persecuted Jews during the Holocaust.
Yad Vashem has recognized about 28,000 Righteous Among the Nations.

Yad Vashem recognized Angel Sanz-Briz as a Righteous Among the Nations in 1966 for saving approximately 5,200 Jews from the Nazis.
