An Important Trip

We welcome the news that New York’s top elected officials have just left on a very public bipartisan trip to Israel.

Governor Andrew Cuomo, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, and Senate co-leaders Dean G. Skelos and Jeffrey Klein undertook the visit to demonstrate solidarity with and support for Israel in the midst of the latest provocations from Palestinian terrorists. The trip takes on special significance given the efforts by Hamas to damage Israel’s tourist trade.

“Friends stand together in times of crisis,” said Gov. Cuomo, while Assembly Speaker Silver emphasized the importance of New York’s elected leaders showing “our solidarity with Israel and its people especially during these difficult times.”

We heartily agree, and this visit is certainly a concrete manifestation of solidarity.
