Chabad Emissary Dies From His Wounds

In October 2016, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Deitsch, 63, a longtime Chabad-Lubavitch emissary in France and more recently in Israel, was brutally attacked and robbed while in the Ukraine. He was taken back to Israel for treatment.

Two men and two women, two of them minors, from the Carpathian mountain region were arrested for the attack.

On Shabbat, surrounded by his family, Rabbi Deitsch died from his wounds, according to the Chabad Shturem website.
