IDF forces operating on Israel’s border with Syria on Wednesday night were fired upon and returned fire towards the source of the gunfire.

An IDF spokesman stated that no Israelis were injured in the incident.

This cross border incident came just days after extensive Israeli airstrikes against Iranian targets in Syria which were prompted by an Iranian rocket attack on the Israeli Hermon ski resort on Sunday.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated Wednesday that Israel’s “policy is clear and it will not change: We are determined to prevent Iran from militarily entrenching itself in Syria against the State of Israel.”

In related news, the IDF deployed an Iron Dome defense system in the Tel Aviv area.

Syria’s Ambassador the United Nations (UN) Bashar Ja’afari threatened Tuesday that his country would target Ben Gurion Airport following Israeli strikes on Damascus’ International Airport.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting, Ja’afari said that Syria is “practicing its legitimate right of self-defense and responding to the Israeli aggression on Damascus International Airport in the same way on Tel Aviv Airport.”
