The Modim recitation in the daily amidah prayer thanks the Creator for “your miracles that are with us every day; and for your wonders and favors in every season, evening, morning and afternoon.”

Yes, we all are recipients of a host of marvels. Unfortunately, it is human nature to get used to events that occur with regularity. We find ourselves taking them for granted. We never should.

A brand new life, emerging from a dark and airless womb, inviolate and taking a first breath, is an amazing happening. A tiny human being materializing intact into this world is an awe-inspiring event. It is the quintessential fresh start, the ultimate empty slate filled with potential. It is always a miracle.

I welcome my grandson Jude (Yehudah Hillel) Benveniste-Plitt. You have such a long name for such a little guy. Your ten little perfect fingers and ten little perfect toes are amazing.

My precious eynikl, you are a very special gift. Your birth was heralded with incredible joy. We are truly grateful that you are here.

Mazel tov to your mother, Tami; your father, Jared; your brothers, Jack and Cole; and the entire Benveniste and Plitt families. May you grow to be a ben Torah and a source of nachas to your family and Klal Yisrael.
