Professor Gideon Dagan Awarded Israel Prize

Professor Gideon Dagan, 80, professor Emeritus of Hydrology at the School of Mechanical Engineering in Tel Aviv University, was named the recipient of the Israel Prize in the field of Earth and Atmosphere Science for 2012 for his work in the field of hydraulics.

Dagan was one of the creators of Stochastic Hydrology, which has helped scientists understand the movement of groundwater across the Earth’s upper layer of soil, which has contributed to prevention of contamination.

Dagan’s over 165 articles have been cited over 6,000 times.
