Promised Antisemitism Plan Yet to Emerge

The Mamdani Administration’s Antisemitism action plan has yet to be released, even as the city had promised it would announce it in time for the High Holy Days.
“The delay from the [Mayor’s Office to Combat Antisemitism] is unacceptable, especially coming off 2025, when New York City recorded more antisemitic incidents than any other city in the country,” the Anti-Defamation League New York/New Jersey wrote in a social media post highlighting the administration’s tardiness. “And unfortunately, 2026 doesn’t show signs of slowing down.”
City officials said it would be out shortly and defended the mayor’s record in increasing resources to fight antisemitism.
“The Mayor is fully committed to the safety of Jewish New Yorkers and to using every tool available to ensure that Jewish communities continue to thrive as an essential part of the fabric of the five boroughs,” spokesperson Sam Raskin said in a statement. “That is why the Mamdani administration expanded the Mayor’s Office to Combat Antisemitism, which will soon release the country's first-ever municipal strategy to root out antisemitism."
The ADL of NY/NJ said it would expect the strategy to include a definition of antisemitism, a prohibition of antisemitism and extremism in government and boycotts in city contracts, and increased security funding for Jewish institutions.
