Rabbi Spitz Endorsement (Correction)

By Editorial Board

November 29, 2017, 4 PM ET

Last week The Jewish Press endorsed the candidacy of Rabbi Ben-Tzion Spitz in Israel’s upcoming Zehut International Party primary for a spot (“#10”) on the party’s list of candidates for the next Knesset elections reserved for a candidate chosen exclusively by Jews living outside of Israel who are members of the party.

However, contrary to what we wrote, all Jewish members of the Zehut International Party living in the Diaspora – even those who are not Israeli citizens – are eligible to vote for a candidate to fill the reserved slot. In fact, this is the first time Diaspora Jews will be permitted to vote in an Israeli party primary.
