Shin Bet Study: 30% Decrease in Terror Attacks from Dec. '11 to Jan. '12

According to statistics released by the Shin Bet, Israel's domestic security agency, the first month of  2012 witnessed a 30% decrease in the number of terrorist attacks compared to December 2011.

January saw 56  attacks, while there were 81 attacks in December. The decline can be attributed to the decreased number of terror attacks emanating from the Gaza Strip (15 attacks versus 30 in December) as well as those occurring in the Jerusalem area (14 attacks compared to 25).

The statistics also reveal that the number of terrorist attacks  in Judea and Samaria essentially remained unchanged (27 attacks in January, compared to 26 in December).

Importantly, the attacks perpetrated in January did not result in any casualties.
