Silver Education Bill

By Editorial Board

March 25, 2015, 5 PM ET

We applaud New York Assemblyman Sheldon Silver on his introduction of legislation that would grant taxpayers an education expense tax credit for tuition at nursery, kindergarten, primary, and secondary schools.

The Silver Bill would provide a tax credit (up to $500 per child) for families who, though entitled to free public education, nevertheless pay tuition to yeshivas and other non-public schools and thereby alleviate the financial burden on public school systems.

A worthy idea any way you look at it.
