Also, in the Torah portion, the great prophet Moses gets ready to hand over the reigns of power to Joshua, and that is not an easy moment for the Jewish people as one great leader leaves and another era - the era of the Land of Israel - emerges.
On Sunday, Jews will be refraining from food and drink from dawn until sunset to commemorate the Fast of Gedaliah.
