Report: Abbas to Serve as PM of New Palestinian 'Unity Government'

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas Chief Khaled Mashaal have reportedly agreed to an arrangement whereby Abbas would lead the interim unity government for Judea and Samaria and Gaza - replacing Salam Fayyad as prime minister - in the lead-up to general elections.

The agreement was based on a proposal by Qatar's emir, who is hosting the reconciliation talks.

Abbas and Mashaal are expected to meet again Monday, according a top Abbas aide.
