Holocaust Survivors March on Polish Embassy in Tel Aviv Protesting Complicity Law

Dozens of Holocaust survivors marched on the Polish embassy in Tel Aviv Thursday, blocking diplomats from exiting the compound, to protest the Holocaust complicity bill ratified in Warsaw earlier this week.

Protesters held up banners in Hebrew and Polish reading ‘No law can change history’ and ‘Poles, we remember what you did.’

Earlier this week, Poland ratified a law that calls for fines and/or prison time for people accusing Poland of “crimes against peace and humanity, or war crimes, or otherwise grossly diminish(ing) the responsibility of the actual perpetrators thereof.” The term ‘Polish death camps’ becomes a criminal offense under the new law, which has sparked a diplomatic spat between Jerusalem and Warsaw.
