Roots And Fruits

I take a walk in the orchid and what do I see?
A beautiful and luscious looking apple tree.

Lo and behold nearby on the ground,
A bright red apple I have found.

As nightfall approaches to the city I return,
And on the asphalt a moldy apple I now discern.

What made this apple decay and grow mold,
This is a message for both young and old.

“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”
So why this sorry state do I now see?

For this holds true only when there is no storm blowing
With strong winds, our fruits get sent a throwing.

Have you noticed that the apple tree has almost no shade at all?
This is because its effort is put into the apple while it is small.

If we wish our “fruits” to develop delicious taste,
Our energy on trivialities we cannot waste.

If we put energy and drive into our “seeds” as they begin to grow,
No matter the wind, from our comfort zone they won’t go!

So let’s ensure our roots are deeply secured into the ground,
Thereby guaranteeing the next generation, to the Torah is bound!
