Recently, a porcelain bathtub appeared atop a jetty off Miami Beach. The gleaming white object was perched upon craggy rocks. Ocean waves lapped around it. The origin of the tub was a mystery.

Classes, Activities At Young Israel Of Bal Harbour

Young Israel of Bal Harbour, located at 9592 Harding Avenue in Surfside, presents a wide array of classes and activities for the communities of Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor and Surfside. Talmud classes are held Monday through Friday before Shacharis at 6:20 a.m. Daf yomi classes are held Sunday through Friday immediately after Shacharis.

Chabad Of East Boca’s Chanukah Festivities

A hundred cars with menorahs on top of their roofs are expected to participate in Chabad of Boca Raton's annual car menorah parade on Monday December 10th. The fleet will depart from the Central Boca Chabad on Military Trail at 5:30 p.m. and then head across town for a Chanukah concert and menorah lighting hosted by Chabad of East Boca.

L.A. Mayoral Campaign In Full Swing

The Friedman Law Offices recently hosted a breakfast reception honoring Los Angeles mayoral candidate and the city’s current controller Wendy Greuel. The breakfast was attended by numerous rabbis and other L.A. clergy members, along with special guest speaker Rabbi Eliyahu Abergel, the chief judge of Jerusalem’s Rabbinic Court.

The Jewish community is marking the 74th anniversary of Kristallnacht, which occurred on November 9-10 in 1938. South Florida’s Holocaust Memorial, located at 1933-1945 Meridian Avenue, held its ceremony on the evening of November 8. Commemorations were observed around the world.

Sherman is known for his unwavering support for a strong U.S.-Israel strategic relationship, for sponsoring a tough Iran sanctions bill, and for cosponsoring legislation that would require the State Department to immediately move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Eighteen-year-old University of Florida student Christian Aguilar went missing on September 20. His frantic parents, Carlos and Claudia Aguilar, came to the college campus in Gainesville to search for their son. They held daily press conferences and begged for help. They handed out flyers. They organized vigils. Hundreds of law enforcement professionals, as well as volunteers from every background, were prompted to join in the effort.

A unique "tripleheader'' of inspiration and talent were present in Hallandale Beach, on Selichos night, September 8. At 11 p.m., 770 Mashpia Reb Shlomo Zarchi lead the traditional farbrengen that customarily precedes Selichos. At 1:15 a.m., Rabbi Yossy Lebovics, principal of the Chaya Aydel Seminary, lead the Selichos service accompanied by Sholom, Mendel and Dovid of the Lebovics Boys Choir.

A double Hachnasas Sefer Torah celebration, recently held at Shaarei Torah of Los Angeles, began with the kesivas osios at the home of Regina Rechnitz, the Rechnitz family matriarch. The writing of the final letters was followed by a large procession through the streets of Los Angeles to the Shaarei Torah shul, home of the new Sifrei Torah.

Luncheon Honors Wallenberg And L.A. Residents

Both houses of Congress unanimously passed bills awarding World War II hero, Raoul Wallenberg, with the country’s highest civilian honor, the Congressional Gold Medal, in recognition of his heroism in saving 100,000 Jews during the waning days of the Holocaust. The legislation is expected to be signed by President Barack Obama shortly.
