Students at the RASG Hebrew Academy in Miami Beach started off the school year with a great mitzvah project with a fun-filled theme. The school’s annual food drive was dedicated to the Miami Dolphins football team and dubbed “The Fins Frenzy and Food Drive Day.”
Last week, Diana Nyad emerged from the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Key West and walked to the beach. Onlookers cheered and blew conch shells. Nyad had finally fulfilled her dream. She was the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without the aid of a shark cage. It had been a long struggle.

A raft washed up to the shore of a marina in south Florida recently. The rickety craft was fashioned from Styrofoam blocks. The posts were oars. The sail was a tarp. This September, Southern NCSY – the international youth movement of the Orthodox Union – launched an exclusive leadership program for high school teens known as Teen LLC: Leadership, Learning and Chesed. The Keystone Jewish Center held a public menorah lighting on Wednesday, December 12, in front of the City Hall of North Miami. The celebration took place for the ninth consecutive year at the city’s building and featured a 15-foot menorah, the largest on city municipal property in South Florida.
