Turkey, seeking to cement its role as an indispensable regional power, has called for the immediate resumption of negotiations over Iran's nuclear program.

Turkey's foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu, speaking at a joint news conference with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi, said that Turkey was willing to host and “make any other kind of contribution” to negotiations between Iran and the six global powers — the US, Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany.

Salehi, for his part, encouraged the six powers to sit at the table with Iran without preconditions. “If there are excuses, it is a sign that they oppose and do not approve of the negotiations,” he said.
