Two IDF soldiers were injured as a result of terrorist gunfire while engaged in routine security activity at the Gaza Strip security fence on Wednesday.

The soldiers received initial medical treatment on site and were evacuated by helicopter to the Soroka hospital in Be'er Sheva.

IDF soldiers responded with gunfire.

Just last week, IDF soldiers prevented terrorists from infiltrating Israel's border at the northern Gaza Strip. The terrorists opened fire at the soldiers responded with gunfire, thwarting the infiltration attempt. No injuries were reported.

Terrorists routinely approach the security fence in order to place explosives, plan terror attacks, and attempt to kidnap IDF soldiers.

In early May, IDF soldiers were fired on during routine operational activity along the Gaza Strip security fence. No injuries were reported, though damage was caused to two armored vehicles. The attackers most likely used a rocket propelled grenade (RPG). In response, IAF aircraft and armored forces fired at the suspicious areas.
